French fine dining restaurant brings authentic French taste to Hong Kong
Two French entrepreneurs announced today (19 January 2023) that they have opened a fine dining restaurant Racines in Sheung Wan, adding a superior choice in Hong Kong’s robust French food scene.

The two entrepreneurs, Mr Johan Ducroquet and Mr Gregory Alexander, have deep faith in Hong Kong’s dynamic food and beverage industry. They opened their first French restaurant in the city in 2020 and now partnered with two talented French chefs, Mr Adrien Castillo and Mr Romain Dupeyre, to run Racines as their latest project to bring more culinary emotions to the city.
The two chefs knew each other at young age when they started as apprentices in a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in France. They also worked together for the reopening of Ritz Paris in 2016. Their paths crossed again where they worked at different Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong.
The co-founder Mr Ducroquet said they believe in the chefs’ talent and innovation to make Racines as one of the new hot spots in Hong Kong. They will be the soul of the fine dining restaurant on Upper Station Street to let discerning customers here enjoy cuisine from where they originate .
He said, “Racines is the French word for roots. The chefs want to share cuisine from their roots and tell customers about the story of their terroir, friendship and family.”
The co-founder Mr Alexander added, "We consider Hong Kong as our home. Hong Kong people love dining out and are increasingly demanding about the quality of food. We are excited to share cuisine from the chefs’ hometown to sophisticated customers in this city who appreciate good food."
